Walking the Hollyford Track together as a family is a truly memorable experience, so this year we are offering some specific ‘kids friendly’ departure dates over the Christmas and Easter school holidays:

By grouping like minded families together the kids can not only enjoy spending time with their parents but can also buddy up and make some new friends of their own, with the benefit of providing the adults with a break during the day.

The Hollyford Track only requires a moderate level of fitness and we can cater for children as young as eight years of age. From Day 2 onwards we transport your main pack by jet boat so you only have a small day pack to carry. We can even assist with some packing tips for Day One to ensure that your child can adequately cope with their backpack ensuring everyone enjoys the Hollyford Track experience.

The track itself is not simply a three day walk - with activities including the wilderness jet boat ride on the Hollyford River, a visit to the Long Reef Seal colony, crossing Fiordland’s longest swing bridge and the scenic flight out over Milford Sound there is enough diversity to keep young inquisitive minds busy at all times.

Our lodge hosts will also seek to provide a children’s menu and earlier meal time, allowing adults to enjoy a separate more relaxed meal and glass of wine whilst the kids are entertaining themselves in the lodge lounge area.
