Milford Sound

Your guided walk on Day Three ends with a scenic flight along the rugged Fiordland coast and into the truly spectacular and dramatic Milford Sound where you'll marvel at the grandeur of vertical granite walls rising from the sea.

Milford Sound is one of New Zealand's premier tourist destinations and up to a million visitors can come here each year. Despite the visitor numbers it is easy to find your own space and tranquillity.

Milford Sound activities for the more sedate visitor include scenic cruises, the underwater observatory, wildlife viewing and gentle walks. Milford Sound adventure activities include sea kayaking and scuba diving. It is also the end to the Milford Track guided walks.

Once you have landed at Milford Sound airport you will be met by coach then travel up the spectacular and scenic Milford Road to the Homer Tunnel which cuts through the divide of sheer granite rock through to the source of the Hollyford River. There are several stops on the way to take in the sheer grandeur of the place. Once on the other side of the divide you descend through impressive alpine flora to Beech forests and then continue on your way back to Te Anau and Queenstown.
